Children's Pastor (Part-Time)

Brief Description

James Street Baptist Church, in the heart of downtown Hamilton, is seeking a part time (15-20 hours per week) children's pastor to lead our congregation in reaching children (aged three to eleven) and their parents in the downtown core and introducing them to Christ. She or he will assume and seek to expand our already thriving children's ministry, including Sunday morning programs, Vacation Bible School, and evening outreaches.

Position Responsibilities

The successful candidate will oversee and eventually expand ministries including those listed below, as well as initiating new ministries to meet the needs of our congregation and community.

Children's church during the latter half of the Sunday morning service (includes training of teachers, implementation of a comprehensive curriculum, and communication with parents about the Sunday school program)

Vacation Bible School or an expanded park ministry in the summer (includes planning and executing the week, recruiting volunteers, and following up with children after the end of the program)

"James Street Kids" monthly evening program for community children (includes working with and training volunteers, planning activities, and identifying and reaching out to those in the community who would best benefit from the program)

The successful candidate will also be expected to attend weekly staff meetings and work together with other staff and coordinators for the edification of the entire church community. He or she will also attend or lead a small group within the church and will be active in seeking mentors and in being a mentor to others.
